Chicken run

This country life is not for me. I don't have the constitution for it. It is a jungle and my animals and plants are a constant worry. If is not a war against slugs or bugs killing my seedlings then is the chickens getting into trouble.

Two or three weeks ago Optimus Maximus escaped from the jaws of the fox thanks only for the gallant intervention of Mr. Moore. I cried so much for such a beautiful and useless creature. I thought he would die of a heart attack or be traumatised forever, but he seemed to recover very well and the next day he was more than fine.

Then the four of them seem to finally be living in peace. The hens still don't like him jumping on top of them all day and I'm not sure they like his cook a doodle doo terribly. However, yesterday Chabela came into the studio -I guess to say good-bye- and then off she goes, into the wild. Didn't come back and I waited and waited until very late. That's the price of letting them live free range, huh?

Early this morning I printed some ads and went around the village to place them in visible places and thought of asking my neighbour Kim if he has seen a free chicken wandering about. And sure enough he went to his coop and gave me back the delinquent. Now she is back in her own jail to meditate about escaping and its consequences.

I owe my neighbour a dinner but he said he will just come if it's chicken curry!
