The three chickens

When we adopted our chickens almost two months ago they didn't have many feathers. Just to think of the horror of living in a small cage not able to move, walk or even grow feathers breaks my heart.

Fortunately, they seem to be doing ok and now they have completed the re-feathering process and even started to give us eggs from time to time. I am amazed by the complexity of the pattern. I tried to get a good picture but they don't stop moving.

So, with that and a little bit of envy on the Otto Rohse engravings he made for a book written by Hermann Melville called Kikeriki I made an engraving of my lovely Chabela, Lavinia and Poppy.

If you have the space to give ex-battery hens a good home and a nice life, contact the Hen Welfare Trust HERE.
